Mobren Transport, Inc. Announces Climate Targets Approved by the Science Based Targets initiative.
 
 
Sioux City, IA – September 23, 2026 – Mobren Transport, Inc. (Mobren), a leading cGMP processor of porcine mucosa-derived heparin intermediate, today announced that its emissions reduction targets have been officially validated and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The approval anchors Mobren’s sustainability strategy to rigorous, climate-science-backed thresholds designed to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
 
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. SBTi defines and promotes best practice in science-based target setting, offers resources and guidance to reduce barriers to adoption, and independently assesses and approves companies’ targets.
 
Mobren’s Approved Science-Based Targets Include:

  • committing to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 63.0% by 2035 from a 2023 base year; and
  • committing to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 66.33% per kg of finished product by 2035 from the 2023 base year.
 
“Getting our science-based targets validated is a milestone for us," said Chris Oehler, Mobren’s Plant Manager. "It moves Mobren from just having good intentions to holding ourselves accountable. By aligning our climate goals with the global 1.5°C pathway, we are protecting our business and the communities we serve with real, measurable progress across our operation."
 
Looking Forward
To support the delivery of these targets, Mobren is implementing a comprehensive climate transition plan. Key initiatives include improving energy efficiency, increasing renewable energy use, optimizing, and decarbonizing logistics, and building supplier partnerships to co-create sustainable solutions.
 
In accordance with SBTi criteria, Mobren will transparently report its progress against these metrics on an annual basis via an annual sustainability report.
