Shredtastic Returns to Sioux City on September 4, 2026
SIOUX CITY, IA — Connections Area Agency on Aging announced that its popular fall document shredding event, Shredtastic, will return to Sioux City on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will be held at the Siouxland Center for Active Generations, located at 313 Cook Street.
The event is designed to help older adults safely dispose of sensitive documents and reduce the risk of identity theft. Document Depot and Destruction will provide on-site shredding services. Over the past several years, more than two tons of personal papers have been shredded during each two-hour event.
Shredtastic is a convenient drive-through event, with parking available for those who wish to observe the shredding process. The service is offered on a donation basis, with proceeds benefiting senior services provided by Connections Area Agency on Aging and the Siouxland Center for Active Generations.
“Preventing identity theft is an important issue for older adults,” said Pam Wurster, event organizer with Connections Area Agency on Aging. “Numbers assigned through Medicare and Social Security, as well as bank account and credit card information, are valuable commodities to scammers. We are excited to continue offering this service to seniors in the Siouxland area, as we have had for more than a decade.”
Seniors, caregivers, and others are encouraged to bring personal paperwork such as:

  • Medicare Summary Notices
  • Insurance explanations of benefits
  • Bank statements
  • Credit card bills
  • Applications and other documents containing personal information
Staples and paper clips do not need to be removed and can be shredded along with the documents.
Items Not Accepted
  • Magazines and phone books
  • Plastic folders
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Spiral-bound items
  • Binders with metal clips
