Best Practices for Food Entrepreneurs

Sioux City, Iowa – ISU Extension and Outreach - Woodbury County is pleased to announce an upcoming hands-on workshop titled "Best Practices for Food Entrepreneurs," scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. This workshop is designed to provide essential knowledge and practical skills for home food entrepreneurs and is at Woodbury County ISU Extension and Outreach in Sioux City.

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the guidelines, food safety practices, and scientific principles that support the home food industry. The workshop will include hands-on activities to ensure attendees can confidently apply what they learn.

Workshop Highlights:

· Guidelines and Food Safety: Learn the guidelines, food safety practices and the background science for home food entrepreneurs.

· Testing Equipment: Practice using the testing equipment required for home food businesses such as pH testing or brix (sugar content) testing

· Batch Records: Understand how to complete accurate batch records.

· Food Labels: Generate appropriate food labels for products sold from home, including food allergy labeling.

· Best Practices: Equip yourself with food safety best practices to produce consistent, high-quality, and profitable products.
