Position Description: District Executive
Reports to: Rural Team Field Director
Position Concept:
Individual will serve as the main administrative leader of the War Eagle District. Employee will be held accountable for measurable achievements supporting the annual growth of Scouting in their area of service. Leads a volunteer board of directors known as a District Committee to fulfill their functions and facilitate the optimum collaboration between unit programs, the district, and the Mid-America Council.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recruits, develops, and maintains effective volunteer management team.
- Maintains a professional working climate that attracts, keeps, and motivates top-quality volunteers.
- Ensures the district has a long-range strategy that achieves its mission and makes consistent progress.
- Achieve progress towards specific goals and objectives, which include: membership recruitment and retention, new unit development through collaborative relationships, volunteer recruitment and training, and successful execution of an annual fundraising goal.
- Serves as the chief district spokesman for the council to ensure that the Council is properly represented.
- Provide quality service through timely communication, regular meetings, training events, and activities.
- Have a willingness and ability to devote irregular hours to achieve council and district objectives.
Desired Skills:
- Confident in non-profit sales.
- Strong marketing, fundraising, or volunteer management skills are highly desired.
- Willing to learn campaign management skills, including but not limited to: planning, execution, tracking, and end analysis.
- Must be comfortable with public speaking and interacting with diverse audiences.
- Self-motivated individual with solid time management skills and strong organizational skills.
- Committed to personal and professional productivity while maintaining high ethical and professional working standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- People-oriented, having the ability to work well with adult volunteers, community and business leaders, and representatives of other organizations
- Must be able to register as a member of Scouting America and pass a criminal background check.
- Able to work varied hours, evening activities, overnight events, and weekend work when required.
- A Scouting background is helpful but not required for employment.
Compensation:
Mid-America Council is an equal opportunity employer. In addition to offering a base salary of $42,500 based on experience.
