York\, the enslaved servant of Captain William Clark\, was a member of the Corps of Discovery Expedition\, working side by side with the soldiers. He is credited in the Captain's journal as helping care for Sgt. Floyd during his illness and death. The exhibit has York relating his thoughts and feelings about his life and being on the expedition. The Center was able to fund the animatronic thanks to a grant from the State Historical Society of Iowa and MRHD.
